Female poker pro Liv Boeree has won the biggest PokerStars European Poker Tour San Remo event ever E-mail

Female poker pro Liv Boeree has won the biggest PokerStars European Poker Tour San Remo event ever.

"I'm over the moon, absolutely over the moon," she said. "I can't believe I've won an EPT."
The 25 year old university graduate once served as a video host on Virgin Media’s EPT coverage. She got her start playing poker on a poker reality show where she received training from the likes of Phil Hellmuth, Annie Duke and Dave “Devilfish” Ulliott.
Boeree has had some wins in the past. In 2008 she won the European Ladies Championships and she went deep in the 2009 WPT Championship. None of her winnings have ever come close to the €1,250,000 she scored at yesterday’s competition however.
"This is exactly what I've been working for since I learned poker, winning a major event," she said.  "The entire tournament I had such a weird feeling I was going to win it. I didn't tell anyone. I'm a scientist, so I try not to get weird like that. This is all just a big blur. I can't believe I have won. I really played my arse off."
A total of 1,240 players turned out to compete at the €5,000+€300 Italian tournament making it the largest EPT event ever.
Boeree went into the final table trailing far behind massive chip leader Jakob Carlsson. This would logically be considered a major disadvantage but by the time she reached the heads-up match she seemed in control of the table. Chipping away at his lead Carlsson managed to regain his lead temporarily but ultimately it was to no avail.
Boeree claims that the win is more a matter of hard training and persistence then luck. "I have been working a lot on my game," she said. "I had a lot of work to do…Jakob was the person I really didn't want to get heads-up against, but I just played my arse off. It's just incredible.”
Asked how she plans to spend her new found riches she told reporters, "I will invest the money wisely. I'm not going to just hit the craps table. I'm going to buy a nice car, and buy a house, maybe two houses.
"I'm also going to buy a new guitar and a new amp and make a lot of noise in my new house."

2 Months, 2 Million E-mail
It's high time that the world of online poker got some exposure on television and it does so in the new show 2 Months, 2 Million.

The G4 network just debuted the first of the 10-episode series this week and it follows four young online poker pros Dani Stern (Ansky), Jay Rosenkrantz (Krantz), Brian Roberts (Flawless Victory) and Emil Patel (Whitelime)] as they try and earn a combined total of $2 million in two months. While the show doesn’t get too caught up in the actual poker playing, it’s a pretty fresh concept to witness a long-term online poker grind happening while being cut up with prop bets and Vegas lifestyle backgrounds and drama.

You can watch 2 Months. 2 Million on Sunday nights at 9:00pm ET on the G4 network.
