If the decline of the poker industry was ever in question, the recent results by Lycos Inc should prove that this is definitely not the case.

According to Lycos, the two most searched terms from January 1st to December 1st, 2008 were poker and Paris Hilton.  Even if you could care less, it appears most of the world is interested in the likeness of the Hollywood heiress over former Vice President Candidate Sarah Palin who was also in the top ten most search females.

Some of the other top searched women were Holly Madison, Tina Fey, and Jessica Alba.  Some of the top searched men were American Idol's Clay Aiken, and of course, the President elect Barack Obama.

In terms of news events, the US economic crisis was the most searched event.  Far more than second place, the presidential election.
